Food waste in landfills is a source of methane. Better evidence about organics movement can support decisions about diversion and treatment.
Any future emissions comparison would need a defined baseline, treatment pathway, quantity basis and documented assumptions. REWAI does not currently produce verified emissions savings.

A possible downstream contribution.
Compost used appropriately in soil can improve water retention and soil properties. Establishing a resilience benefit would require evidence of finished compost, where and how it was applied, and field measurements.
REWAI has not demonstrated reduced flooding, cooler temperatures or improved food security. Those outcomes require implementation partners and a separate measurement plan.
